DR10 Car and Van Insurance
So what is a DR10 and why might you need specialist DR10 Car Insurance?
A DR10 is a motor conviction issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and UK Police which is adminstered when someone drives or attempts to drive when their blood alcohol limit is above the level set in UK law. Specifically this is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. Punishment is strict following a DR10 and a driver can expect a ban and fine if found guilty. In some cases, it is possible to receive a prison sentence of up to 6 months.
There are a number of scenarios in which a police officer may opt to request the driver to use a breathylser. These include:
1) The police officer has reason to suspect the driver has carried out an illegal motor offence
2) Following stopping the driver, the police officer has reason to suspect the driver has consumed alcohol
3) The police officer believes the motor vehicle to have been involved in a motor incident
In addition to a DR10, there are a number of related drink and drug motor convictions, including DR20 (driving or attempting to drive when unfit through drink or drugs), DR30 (driving or attempting to drive then refusing to give a specimen), DR40 (charge of a vehicle with with alcohol concentration above limit), DR50 (in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink or drugs), DR60 (Failure to provide a specimen other than driving/ attempting to drive), DR70 (failing to provide specimen for breath test), DR80 (driving or attempting to drive when unfit through drugs), DR90 (in charge of a vehicle when unfit through drugs).
Finding drink drive car insurance
DR10 car insurance is one of the most difficult types of insurance to find at an affordable price. Insurers often believe drink drivers present a much higher insurance risk and are likely to have a claim. True, many drink drivers will learn from their mistakes, although all drivers with a DR10 will be tarnished by the same brush unfortunately.
In order to find cheap insurance for a drink drive conviction, you need to speak to a specialist, one that takes an unconventional view on drink driving. Here at convictedcarinsurance.co.uk we believe drivers can learn from their mistakes and deserve reasonably priced insurance to become reformed. We have negotiated leading rates with a number of insurers and we’re confident we can find you the best price, whether for your car, van, bike or other motor vehicle.
We can also help find home insurance with convictions, and insurance to release impounded cars.
