Car and Van Insurance with an LC30
What is an LC30 motor conviction?
An LC30 conviction means ‘driving after making a false declaration about fitness when applying for a licence’. It carries 3 to 6 penalty points and stays on your licence for four years. An LC30 is part of the Licence Offences category of driving endorsements and also includes an LC20, LC40 and LC50. All codes within this category come with four penalty points and remain on the licence for the same period of time.
The LC30 must be disclosed to the insurer until the conviction has been spent. If the insurer doesn’t know about it, and later finds out, they may void the policy and reject any claims. Otherwise they will charge a large penalty to keep it running which may not be affordable.
Low cost LC30 car and van insurance
Finding cheap convicted driver car and van insurance can be a very frustrating journey. Many insurers won’t quote for an LC30 since they believe the driver is at high risk of having a future claim. Why? In insurance a motor conviction is often seen as an indicator that a driver takes increased risks and tend to have a higher percentage of claims.
This doesn’t consider, though, how a person can learn from their mistakes and become reformed. It also treats all convicted drivers as the same, which is unfair and doesn’t analyse their individual circumstances and risk.
