Car and Van Insurance with a DD10
What’s a DD10 motor conviction?
A DD10 endorsement means ‘causing serious injury by dangerous driving’. It carries 3 to 11 penalty points and stays on the licence for 4 years. A DD10 is part of the Reckless/Dangerous Driving offences and also includes DD40, DD60, DD80 and DD90. All of these offences carry 3 to 11 penalty points except DD90 which has a maximum of 9 points.
Drivers with existing penalty points need to be aware that if 12 points are exceeded this can lead to a ban under the totting up (TT99) rules. This is usually a ban for 6 months to a year.
Until a motor conviction is ‘spent’ it needs to be disclosed to your motor insurer. All insurers check the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE) which is a database that registers motor convictions and claims. If the DD10 conviction hasn’t been disclosed it can lead to the insurance either being cancelled or a large additional fee to keep the policy running.
Low cost DD10 car and van insurance
Cheap convicted driver car, van and motorbike insurance with a DD10 can be very hard to find. Insurers typically take the view a DD10 means the driver is a significantly higher risk of making a future mistake and having a claim. They take a very one dimensional view and see all drivers with a DD10 as the same. Individual circumstances aren’t taken into account, and all drivers with this conviction code will find their insurance numerous times more expensive than it normally would be.
Here at Convicted we take a different approach. We’re specialists in finding cheap conviction driver insurance and will get you the best rates out there. Our belief is that drivers can learn from mistakes and just because they’ve had a motor conviction in the past, doesn’t mean it will happen again.
As well as DD10 insurance, we can also help if you’re guilty of drink driving, uninsured driving, careless driving, previous bans and multiple convictions. Our sister sites can help you find the insurance you need to retrieve an impounded car or van from the police impound.
