Car and Van Insurance With a DR30
Why have I received a DR30 and where can I find cheap drink driver insurance?
A DR30 belongs to the drink or drugs category of motor offences and means ‘driving or attempting to drive then failing to supply a specimen for analysis’. A DR30 motor endorsement carries between 3-11 penalty points and stays on your licence for 11 years from the date of the conviction.
If you’ve got existing penalty points and the DR30 takes you over 12 (within three years) this will lead to a TT99 ‘totting up’ offence which basically means a ban. You’ll not be able to resume driving until you’ve redone your driving tests.
During the 11 years following receiving the conviction, it will still need to be mentioned to your insurer. Of course they will penalise you with higher insurance costs, but the risks are higher if you don’t disclose it…this could lead to your policy being cancellation with no money being returned, any claims happened during this period might not be paid or the insurer might pay less than the actual costs!
Drink and drug motor convictions
Here at Convictedcarinsurance.co.uk we not only specialise in DR30 car, bike and van insurance but we can help with other convictions within this category including: DR10 (driving or attempting to drive with alcohol level above limit), DR20 (driving or attempting to drive while unfit through drink), DR31 (driving or attempting to drive then refusing to give permission for analysis of a blood sample that was taken without consent due to incapacity), DR61 (defusing to give permission for analysis of a blood sample that was taken without consent due to incapacity in circumstances other than driving or attempting to drive) and DR80 (driving or attempting to drive when unfit through drugs).
The above endorsements stay on the licence for 11 years, but the following are for only four years: DR40 (in charge of a vehicle while alcohol level above limit), DR50 (in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink), DR60 (failure to provide a specimen for analysis in circumstances other than driving or attempting to drive), DR70 (failing to provide specimen for breath test) and DR90 (in charge of a vehicle when unfit through drugs).
