Car and Van Insurance with a CU10

What is a CU10 motor conviction for?

A CU10 means ‘using a vehicle with defective brakes’. It carries three penalty points and stays on your licence for a four year period. A CU80 is part of the Construction and Use offences and includes the CU20, CU30, CU40, CU50 and CU80. They all carry 3 penalty points and stay on the licence for four years.

Until the CU10 is spent it will need to be declared to the insurance company. It isn’t worth the risk not disclosing the CU10 driving endorsement since all insurers check the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE) which contains all details on motor claims and convictions. Insurers often cancel policies where important features are not disclosed, or if they’re feeling generous, may keep the policy running….after you’ve paid a hefty additional insurance premium!

Finding cheap CU10 car insurance

It’s not easy to find cheap convicted car or van insurance with a CU10 due to insurers believing it means the driver is a higher risk of claiming….which could cost them money. This can mean that very few companies will quote, those that do, will charge a very costly insurance price. It can be a frustrating journey with both comparison sites and high street brokers taking this similar stance.

However here at convictedcarinsurance.co.uk we’re experts in finding some of the lowest insurance policies out there for convictions.
