Car and Van Insurance with a BA30

What is a BA30 motor conviction?

A BA30 means ‘attempting to drive while disqualified by order of court’. It carries six penalty points and remains on your licence for four years. Until the four years have elapsed you will need to tell your insurer about this conviction. If the insurer doesn’t know, and finds out, they will probably cancel your insurance and refuse to pay any claims, or failing that they will charge an extra excessive penalty.

If you’ve got existing penalty points, in addition to the BA30, this might put you over the threshold limit that leads to a ban, known as a TT99 motor conviction. This is for 12 or more penalty points in three years.

Finding cheap BA30 car insurance

Getting cheap convicted driver car insurance for a BA30 can be very tricky. Most insurers have a negative viewpoint of drivers with a BA30 endorsement believing them to pose a much higher insurance risk, more likely to make a claim. This is stereotypical to say the least since there’s just as much chance a driver would learn from their mistake and not repeat offend. Everyone deserves a second chance but some insurers are quick to judge and label.
