Car and Van Insurance With an AC10
What is an AC10 motor conviction?
An AC10 motor endorsement means ‘failing to stop after an accident’. It carries 5-10 penalty points and stays on your licence for four years. It is part of the ‘accident offences’ category of driving offences which also includes AC20 (failing to give particulars or report an accident within 24 hours) and AC30 (undefined accident offences).
Under the rules of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act you must disclose your conviction to the insurer until it is spent. After it’s spent your insurer no longer needs to know about it. Make sure that your insurer’s fully aware up until this time, since the insurer would be within its rights to cancel your policy and avoid claims if it wasn’t disclosed in the first place.
Finding AC10 car insurance
If you’re looking for AC10 car, bike or van insurance, you will find this hard to locate at a reasonable price. Most insurers – the kind that you find on TV, radio and comparison sites – prefer ‘safe’ drivers. If you have anything untoward on your licence such as a motor conviction, a previous refusal of insurance, multiple claims, etc, then they either won’t quote or will charge you way above the odds.
