Car and Van Insurance with an SP10

What’s an SP10 motor conviction?

An SP10 driving endorsement means ‘exceeding goods vehicle speed limits’. It carries 3-6 penalty points and stays on your licence for 3 years in accordance with the rules of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

An SP10 is part of the Speed Limit offences and also includes the SP20, SP30, SP40 and SP50. All of these endorsement types carry 3-6 penalty points and must be disclosed to your insurer. If you fail to disclose the SP10 motor conviction, your insurer may either cancel your policy once they find out or charge a hefty fee to keep it running.

If you’ve got existing penalty points, be aware that a ban can come into effect if you exceed 12 penalty points. This is known as a totting up offence and leads to a ban of typically 6-12 months.

Finding cheap SP10 car and van insurance

Convicted car insurance with an SP10 can be difficult to find at a reasonable price. Many insurers charge an additional premium for speeding offences since they believe it means the driver takes more chances and more likely to make a mistake. The truth is insurance shouldn’t be much affected by a conviction such as an SP10, so if you’re having trouble finding cheap insurance get in touch with us.

Here at Convicted Car Insurance we specialise in finding extremely competitive prices for drivers with motor convictions. Whether that’s a less serious offence such an SP10 or a drink driving offence, it doesn’t matter since we cover all offences.

In addition to speeding offences contact us if you’ve been guilty of: uninsured driving, drink driving, reckless driving, dangerous driving, careless driving, or if you have multiple convictions or previous bans.

Our sister site seizedcarinsurance.co.uk can help you release an impounded car or van from a police impound. Impounded car insurance policies come in two forms: short term for 30 days or annual policies that are comprehensive and have higher level of cover.
